Congratulations on your new temporary partial denture. At Masters Dentistry, we’re here to support you. The following guidelines will help you care for your flipper and keep you comfortable.

Cleaning Your Flipper
Clean your flipper with a denture brush and water at least once daily.
A mild hand soap or dish soap can be used to clean your flipper.
Do not use toothpaste to clean your flipper.
Rinse your flipper and mouth after eating.

Storing Your Flipper
Remove your flipper at night unless instructed otherwise.
Store your flipper in room temperature water to maintain its shape.
Never use hot water, as this can warp or damage the flipper.
Never wrap your flipper in a napkin, as it may be accidentally thrown away.
Keep your flipper out of reach of pets.

Wearing Your Flipper
Your flipper is made from a lightweight material and is meant to be temporary.
Flippers are often referred to as “social teeth” and are not meant for chewing or biting into food.
Avoid chewing with your flipper, as it can break or crack.
Your flipper may feel loose or move slightly, this is normal.

Speaking
Speech changes are normal at first.
Practice speaking or reading out loud.

Important Reminders
Flippers are more delicate than full or partial dentures.
Do not force your flipper into place or bite it into position.
Do not attempt to adjust or repair your flipper yourself.

Adhesives
Adhesive is commonly needed to help improve retention and stability. Use a small amount as needed.

What to Expect
Your flipper is a temporary solution designed to maintain your smile during healing or in preparation for a fixed bridge or implant. It may feel less stable than a permanent restoration, which is normal and expected.
